As one way of fulfilling its mission of learning from practice and connecting scholars with consultants and industry executives, the SMR has developed a new type of article. Perspective from Practice essays are written by practitioners, often in collaboration or dialogue with academics. These essays identify high-priority topics in specific domains of practice that deserve scholarly attention in strategic management. More broadly, they address the institutional divides that exist between research and practice and encourage advances on the canonical problems of strategic management that meet the current needs of practice.
